Fire Evacuation Lift” Purpose Is To Provide A Facility To Assist Fire-fighters To Move With More Ease Vertically Through A Building, And Rapid Evacuation Of Occupant In Fire Emergency In The Building Having Height 70 Meters And Above. Required Lift Access At Every Landing Or Mid-landing Of One Of The Enclosed Staircases Of The Building And The Said Staircase Shall Be Protected With Smoke Check Lobby By Means Of Fire Resistance Door Having 1 Hr. Fire Resistance, So Fire-fighter / Occupant Can Access The Lift Safely.

Can a goods lift within my existing premises be utilised/adapted to carry out Fire Evacuation lift function/provide compliance?
No. Generally speaking, to reduce the risk of the lift entrance being obstructed when the lift is required to operate on fire-fighters service, its use for moving refuse or goods should be restricted. Therefore, a lift whose primary intended function within the building is the regular movement of goods or refuse would be unsuitable.
Why cost of Fire Evacuation Lift is higher than Fire Lift?
Fire Evacuation Lift is having high level of safety standards compare to Fire Lift (like Cabin of Non-combustible metal with ceramic wool for 2-hrs fire rating, Fire rated vision panel doors, 30 Mins Jerk Less Back Up System, Fire Rated COP & LOP, FRLS Cables etc.) Fire Evacuation Lift is offering special features (like Fire Fighting apparatus, Exhaust Fan & Trap Door in Lift Cabin; 2-Way Intercom System on all floors; Provision for External Power Source; 2 no. Car Operating Panels; IOT based Automatic Notification to nearest Fire Brigade etc.) which are not available in normal Fire Lift. Fire Evacuation Lift should be working in case of Fire in premises against Fire Lift which is not used in case of fire. Due to this, we need to consider higher level safety factor compared to Fire Lift. Due to all these reasons, cost of Fire Evacuation Lift is on higher side compare to Fire Lift.
